Waka Te Tasman 2012

The Motueka Waka Ama Club invites you to attend Waka te Tasman, Kaiteriteri, 2012. It's like the Tour de France, but in wakas ... and not in France!

Friday 16th and Saturday 17th November, 2012 at Kaiteriteri Beach, in Tasman Bay, at the top of the South Island, Aotearoa New Zealand.

Distances and other info:

• Novice W1 = 5km
•  Open/Masters W1, W2 = 10km
• Novice/Rangatahi (J16, J19) W6 = 10km
• Open/Masters W6 = 21km (A three stage race, 1km, 12km & 8km, handicapped starts, race times added together to determine places).
•  W6 Open/Masters Men & Women, maximum 7 in crew.
• W6 Open/Masters Mixed, maximum 8 in crew. You can swap seating and paddlers between stages. See race rules for more details. 
• Rigorous safety procedures, with support boats provided.
• Prize giving and meal at The Shoreline Café, Kaiteriteri.

Come along for great racing, fantastic location, awesome atmosphere and camaraderie, and a whole lot of fun!

Welcome to the new website for the Motueka Waka Ama Club! This is the place to come to for everything you'd like to know about waka ama in the Motueka area. At present we are getting ready for the Waka Te Tasman 2012 regatta in mid-November - more information on that soon.

If you're curious about waka ama and would like to give it a try, please don't hesitate to join us for a paddle one Sunday morning. We meet at 10am on Kaiteriteri Beach.
